260-tonne pipe bridge handed over at the TAMEK Salihli factory

Fabrication and erection of a 260-tonne pipe bridge for the TAMEK tomato paste factory in Salihli, Manisa have been completed.

Every stage of the project — engineering design, production and site erection — was carried out by our own specialist team.

Erection in step with the production calendar

In the food industry, the most critical constraint on site work is the production calendar. For tomato paste factories, the off-season is a narrow window in which site work can be done.

The erection programme for the pipe bridge was therefore set up together with the factory's production calendar; pieces prepared in the workshop were despatched to site in erection order.

Two disciplines, one point of contact

Pipe bridges involve the structural steel and the piping disciplines at the same time. The load-bearing frame of the bridge has to carry thermal expansion, wind and maintenance loads as well as the weight of the pipes.

Running both disciplines from a single source brought a clear advantage in site coordination and in resolving interfaces.
